Where Knowing Less Can Lead to Living More!

WONDER. QUESTION. EVOLVE.

THE MISSION

What Is Unlearning?

Unlearning is the intentional process of letting go of outdated beliefs, habits, and half-baked “truths” that no longer serve you. It’s not about deleting your brain’s hard drive—it’s about clearing enough mental space that curiosity and growth can stop tripping over the junk on the floor.

Think of your mind as a closet. Over the years, it’s been stuffed with mismatched socks (beliefs), itchy hand-me-downs (habits), and at least three ugly sweaters (assumptions you never liked but still wore to keep the peace). And then, one day, you pull down a dusty box and—surprise!—there’s a taxidermied parrot of a belief you didn’t even know you inherited, squawking outdated advice at you.

That’s unlearning: pulling out the dusty, the worn-out, and the wildly unnecessary so you can finally ask, “Do I even need this?” In a world drowning in information, we often confuse knowing more with understanding better. Real wisdom? Sometimes it’s subtraction. Sometimes it’s side-eyeing the parrot. And sometimes it’s having the guts to say: “Maybe this isn’t the whole picture.”

Why a University of Unlearning?

Because why not? We’ve all done time in the school of “shoulds.” We’ve memorized the rules, aced cultural scripts, and graduated with degrees in certainty we never actually applied for. (Congrats—you majored in People-Pleasing with a minor in Overthinking.)

But where do we go to practice doubt? To question the “obvious”? To poke holes in echo chambers and say, “Wait… who decided this was true?” That’s where the University of Unlearning (UofU) comes in: a playful, thoughtful, slightly unhinged space for rethinking the automatic, unraveling the inherited, and relearning how to listen—with fresh eyes, open ears, and a suspicious eyebrow raised.

Traditional universities prep you for tests. The UofU preps you for life’s pop quizzes—the ones where the right answer is usually: “This question is garbage.” Here, curiosity outranks certainty, weird is the uniform, and your diploma? Yeah, it’s just a kazoo.

Because unlearning isn’t about being right—it’s about being ready.

Ready to wonder, ready to question, ready to evolve… and ready to admit you probably didn’t need that degree in certainty anyway.
